కొత్త సంవత్సరం మీకూ, మీ కుటుంబ సభ్యులకీ, మిత్రులకీ, మీ శ్రేయోభిలాషులకీ శుఖ సంతోషాలూ, అన్ని రకాల అభ్యున్నతీ కలుగజేయాలని కోరుకుంటున్నాను.

నాకు నదుల సంగతి తెలుసు:
మనిషి నరాల్లో ప్రవహిస్తున్న రక్తంకంటే పురాతనము,
ఈ సృష్టి అంత పురాతనమైన నదులగురించి తెలుసు.
నా ఆత్మ కూడా నదులంత అగాధం.
పగళ్ళు ఇంకా పసిగా ఉండగానే యూఫ్రటిస్ లో స్నానం చేసేను.
కాంగో నది ఒడ్డున నా కుటీరం నిర్మించుకుంటే,
అది నన్ను హాయిగా నిద్రపుచ్చింది.
నేను నైలు నదిని పరిశీలించి అక్కడే పిరమిడ్లు నిర్మించాను.

of human blood in human veins.

I heard the singing of the Mississippi when Abe Lincoln went
