V… లావొ జూ సంకలనం (చీనీ) నుండి

భూమీ ఆకాశమూ కనికరము లేనివి

అనేక జీవరాసుల్ని గడ్డిబొమ్మల్లా తొక్కిపడేస్తాయి.

మేధావులూ నిర్దాక్షిణ్యమైన వారే

మనుషులందరినీ గడ్డిబొమ్మలుగా జమకడతారు.

భూమికీ ఆకాశానికీ నడుమ

కొలిమి తిత్తిలా లేదూ?

అంతా శూన్యమే, కానీ ఎప్పుడూ ఖాళీ అవదు.

అది ఎంత పనిచేస్తుంటే, అంత బయటకి పోతుంటుంది.

అతిగా మాటాడడం చివరకి మౌనానికి దారి తీస్తుంది.

కనుక శూన్యాన్ని నమ్ముకుని ఉండడమే మంచిది.

Heaven and earth are ruthless,

Trampling the myriad creatures like straw dogs.

The wise are ruthless,

Considering the people as straw dogs.

The space between earth and heaven,

Isn’t it like a bellows?

It’s empty but never exhausted.

The more it works the more flows out.

Much speech leads in the end to silence.

Better to hold fast to the Void.
