ఆకాశం
ఒక అందమైన పురాతన చర్మపత్రం…
దానిమీద సూర్యుడూ చంద్రుడూ
ప్రతి రోజూ తమ దినచర్య నమోదుచేస్తుంటారు.
దాన్ని అంతటినీ చదవాలంటే
మహా జ్ఞాని కంటే కూడా
ఎక్కువ భాషాపటిమ గలిగి ఉండాలి.
‘కలా’మతల్లి కంటే కూడా ఎక్కువ
దివ్యదృష్టీ, భావుకతా కలిగి ఉండాలి.
కానీ, దాన్ని అనుభూతి చెందడానికి మాత్రం
మనిషి దానికి వినమ్రంగా అంతేవాసిత్వం నెరపాలి:
ఎంత శ్రద్ధగా విడవకుండా శుశ్రూష చెయ్యాలంటే,
ఒక సముద్రం లాగనో
లేక, ఒక భూమిలాగనో…
నిరంతరం, ఒకేఒక్క నమ్మకమైన
ఆంతరంగికుడిలా మెలగాలి …

The Sky

Is that beautiful old parchment

In which the sun

And the moon

Keep their diary.

To read it all,

One must be a linguist

More learned than Father Wisdom;

And a visionary

More clairvoyant than Mother Dream.

But to feel it,

One must be an apostle:

One who is more than intimate

In having been, always,

The only confidant—

Like the earth

Or the sea.
